Future Proofing Kaitaia’s Energy Supply

Local businesses and community organisations especially need to understand the importance of this discussion before we are hit by another major weather event or random lengthy power outage like the one this week. With Climate Change ensuring that cyclones and torrential rains come around more often, we need to protect ourselves from being dependent upon a long narrow power supply line that is highly vulnerable on unstable land and from falling trees.

Other local communities in NZ and around the world are looking for energy security and independence. We need to build more resilience into our community so that we’re not left literally in the dark.

Transmission costs are going to leave the lines companies with stranded assets that no one will be able to afford to maintain.

Solar is now the cheapest source of electrical energy – see: topdocumentaryfilms.com/breakthroughrenewableenergy

Solar can give you:

  • Reduced operating costs.
  • Excellent return on your investment.
  • Minimal maintenance – (no moving parts as in wind or hydro)
  • The “ecofriendly” label – for an environmentally responsible image.

You are invited to an evening discussion to see what can be done in Kaitaia with a focus on non-residential settings (see Facebook event)
